Corrosive Challenge 166 - Put A Pin In It

Good morning!  This is a super exciting day for us at The Corrosive Challenge, not only do we have a new challenge, but we have 4 new team members!  I am really looking forward to working with all of them, be sure to check out the blog to meet them and take a peek at all their blogs too.

Our new Sponsor for the next fortnight is A and T Digital Designs home of The Emerald Faeries.  This is one of the great parts of being on a design team, as I had never heard of this company but I just adore these Faeries.  They are the sweetest things!

The challenge is to use hat, push, or safety pins AND/OR this "Pinspirational" photo by Ronda at Box of Buttons:
I chose to work with Kenz & Tilly available in the A and T Shop.  I have a friend who recently had a baby boy, so this was perfect for the occasion, and I knew I'd be seeing her this weekend.

The image is colored with Copics, with Stickles added to the wings.  I added lots of flowers, and two stick pins that I made using supplies mostly purchased at Walmart!  They don't have a huge selection of crafty things, but where I live, it's great in a pinch, and you never do know what you'll find there.  It seems like their selection of paper crafting supplies is always expanding.
Sketch # 192 from The Sweet Stop

Papers:  Crate Paper - Story Teller "Legend" and "Lifetime"
Embellies:  WOC and Recollections Roses, K&Co - Cut + Paste Ephemera (sentiment), Stick Pins made using beads and supplies from Walmart & stash.

Can't wait to see what you "pin up" on the Blog.  Be sure to play along for a chance to win a prize from our sponsor.

A is for Awesome

Right before Christmas, my son came home with a gift bag that we decided to wait to open until Christmas.  Inside were all sorts of handmade goodies he had done at school, and I will treasure them always (even though I don't think he inherited mommy's crafty genes, lol.)  My son also has a very silly, quirky personality and at the beginning of the school year, his teacher asked him what he thought of her, and he told her he thought she was "just medium".  I don't know where he comes up with this stuff!  Lately though, we've noticed him drawing something on the backs of his school papers, and he told me that he is trying to make a heart for his teacher, because now he thinks she's AWESOME.  Still not sure what changed his mind, but she is a pretty awesome teacher, and I wanted to make her a card to let her know.  My son helped me pick out the image, and chose Super Betty, part of The Bettys 4 collection at Simply Betty Stamps (who just so happen to be our current sponsor at The Corrosive Challenge Blog!)

Betty is colored with Copics, all purples and pink per my son's guidance (purple is his teacher's favorite color).  She is fussy cut and popped up with foam squares.  I used a star embossing folder for the lavender paper behind her.

Sketch was #242 at Mojo Monday.  As usual too late to enter!  D'oh!
Papers:  Stash and the striped one was from Recollections "Boo Who" paper pad.
Embellies:  W.O.C Cherry blossoms and roses, brads and adhesive gems and pearls from stash.  Stick pin handmade by me!  (I recently saw a tutorial how to make them, and they couldn't be easier, and I love the finishing touch they can add to a project).

Challenges entered:
Flourishes llc - Something "New" (the stick pin)
Crafty Bloggers Network - Flowers

Thanks for stopping by.

Out With The Old

Happy New Year!!  I feel like it's been forever since I posted.  The holidays are always pretty hectic with my family, we have lots of visiting, presents to open, and making merry.  I do love Christmas, but I am always a little relieved when it's all over.  The tree is down, everything is back to normal, time for a new and hopefully good year ahead.

We have some exciting changes over at The Corrosive Challenge for the new year.  You may have noticed we gave the blog a little facelift, and we are going to be announcing some new team members for our January 20th challenge, so be sure to check back.  We also will be featuring a new sponsor for EACH challenge this year, which also means more prizes for those who enter!  Wahoo!  We are retiring our guest designer position, but will be selecting a Top 3. These crafters will get to have their creations featured on the blog in our separate Monday winners' post!

We are extremely pleased that our first sponsor for the New Year is Simply Betty Stamps !  Betty's images are fun, funky, and unique, and are always a blast to work with.  I chose Diver Judy, part of the Sweet Gothic Kids Olympians collection.  The challenge is "Out with the Old", use up something from your stash and tell us what it is.

Everything I used I already had in my stash.  The stickers I had received for my birthday in June, by K and Company - "At the Pool", papers were Bazzill Basics, and DCWV Tahiti Beach stack.  Brads and stick gems I have had in my stash forever.  It's actually rare that I go and buy something specific for a project, I tend to just buy things at random when I catch a sale, so I have a pretty good stash to choose from for the most part.

Judy is colored with Copics, with a little bit of glossy accents added to her goggles.  I almost had a disaster when I ended up with black fingerprints on my image as I was sponging the edges, but I was able to cover over them for the most part, phew!

The winner of this challenge will receive a $15 gift voucher to the Simply Betty Stamps online shop!  Dig through that stash of yours, and join us!

Hope everyone's 2013 is off to a great start!
